Theory Test

One of the first steps towards passing your driving test is to pass your theory test. The test is in two parts - first a question part and then a hazard perception part.

The question of the theory test involves 50 multiple choice questions on a touch screen computer. The pass mark in 43 out of 50.

The hazard perception test involves 14 clips of video film. Each lasts 20-30 seconds. Each clip has one identifiable scoring hazard, apart from one clip that has two scoring hazards.

You need to pass both parts at the same time to pass the test. You must pass the test before you can apply for your practical driving test.

You don't need to start your driving lessons before you start work on your theory test, buit for most people it is an ideal strategy to learn for the theory test at the same time as taking your driving lessons. Then the two aspects work together. Also, if there are questions that you don't fully understand on the theory test you can ask your driving instructor for help or a clearer explanation as to what thje question means and what the correct answer is and why it is correct.
